Project Environmental Officer

Job Type: Short Term Contract – approx. 8 weeks

Summary: A predominantly administrative and reporting role with approximately 25% field work. The position is responsible for environmental compliance reporting, including but not limited to internal, client and authority reports

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collation of monthly environmental data, liaison with waste contractors to ensure waste is properly documented and disposed of in accordance with the project waste management plan. 
  • Educate and train subcontractors in the management of the environmental aspects of environmental aspects of vessels and project specific reporting requirements. 
  • Conduct as needed environmental inspections and review sub-contractor provided reports 
  • Provision of local support for socio-economic initiatives under the guidance of the socio-economic corporate team. 
  • Act as focal point for socio-economic engagement for example fisher folk engagement 
  • Provide specific environmental advice to the HSE Manager and provide subject matter expert reviews and inputs to Environmental Plans.


  • Bachelors degree in a related Environmental Field Experience 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role 
  • Experience of Guyana EPA reporting requirements 
  • Understanding of Marine Vessel Environmental Aspects, SOPEP etc 
  • Experience of software based reporting systems 
  • Oil and Gas or Mining experience desirable
  • Experience of Environmental and Social Management Systems  
  • MS Office Suite
  • Familiarity of risk management systems 
  • Understanding of ISO14,001 
  • Good Communication Skills 
  • Confidence to advise and guide sub-contractors
