Project Manager
NSB Omega is searching for a Project Manager for our Client in NC.
Job Summary:
This position leads the evaluation and oversight of the process design on capital projects with focus on scale-up and commercialization of R&D and new technology initiatives in HPQ Business Unit. Individual will collaborate with project leadership, R&D, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial stakeholders to evaluate the readiness of the process design to enter and advance through Sibelco’s development gates (0-2). This position assists with prioritizing and framing different competing alternatives for evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Subject matter expert (SME) in the maturing of Process Design Packages (PDP) in support of capital projects.
- Experience in Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) practices and how these are customized for a laboratory versus a pilot plant versus a commercial facility.
- Evaluating conceptual process designs to assess and prioritize which alternatives require bench testing, lab trials, piloting (internal and external), plant trials and or a demonstration facility.
- Ability to rate the readiness of process designs to enter and exit Front End Loading (FEL) Stage 0 through 2 Select.
- Assess the effectiveness and quality of alternatives analyzed and trade off studies performed, including impact to the business case, economic models, and constructability.
- Evaluate the completeness of a project’s Basis of Design (BOD) for entering passing gate 2.
- Expertise in requirements to advance a PDP into an overall project design package.
- Provide Owner guidance to an Engineering/Procurement/Construction/Construction Management (EPCM) firm’s work to advance and detail a final process design package.
- Lead and manage both internal and external process design evaluators and technology licensors.
Qualifications/Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the industry codes and regulations for laboratories, pilot plants, and commercial chemical facilities.
- Knowledgeable in pilot plan design, the flexibility required, and the overall goal setting to collect data.
- Familiarity with the design and construction providers who develop and build skids, laboratories, and pilot plants using modularization techniques plus the incorporation of expandability.
- Utilize past experiences in successful and unsuccessful scale ups of a pilot plant to a demonstration plant and or full commercialization to guide the project team.
